The pharmacokinetics
of a single drink

Figure 1 depicts the pharmacokinetics of a single drink. The slope of the curve, the change in BAC
(b), divided by the change in time gives the elimination or "burnoff" rate. This rate remains fairly
constant for any one person (little intra-subject variability) until BACs exceed 0.30% when the
elimination rate may increase, however the rates do vary among different individuals (great
inter-subject variability).
